Giveaway Day: New Patterns!!

I’m a little late to the Giveaway Day party this month, but better late than never! For this Giveaway Day, I’m excited to announce the release of my two newest patterns, Apiary and Shoal!

CaseyYork_PatternPDF_Dec9

Apiary, also known as “the bee quilt,” is the pattern that started it all–the first real quilt I made, and the one that led to my beginning to write and release my designs as patterns. If you don’t know the story, I designed it to fulfill my oldest son, Julian’s, request for a quilt with “dandelions, bees, and a bee hive.” I developed my technique of finishing the edges of raw-edge applique with embroidery specifically to meet the challenges of appliqueing all of those tiny antennae and legs.

Of course, once Julian’s quilt was done, his younger brother Simon needed to have one, too. Simon’s favorite animals are sharks and his favorite color is blue, so his quilt, Shoal, practically designed itself.

For this Giveaway Day, to celebrate *finally* getting these patterns out the door, I’m offering up a copy of each pattern. Just leave a comment below telling me what kind of motif you’d like to see on a quilt. I’ll choose a winner after 5:00 pm, Dec. 13, and he or she will get both patterns in PDF format. If you’re a no-reply commenter, please remember to include your email address in your comment!

[This giveaway is now closed. I’ll announce a winner tomorrow morning!]

  1. Those are fabulous quilts! Thank you for offering to share the patterns with us. I would be interested in seeing a falcon quilt.

  2. Well, couldn’t make up my mind, so here are several suggestions: alphabet or numbers ( person’s name in bolder letters), all 4 seasons ( 1 pattern for each?); Halloween w/ witches and graveyard and…; Harry Potter/ movies in general. And last but not least all types of cars – after all I am writing from Detroit ;-) (or transportation in general with bikes & trikes, trucks, trains).
Thanks so much, love your patterns.
Okay, one more: sports/ Olympic games pictograms…

  3. I am a huge fan of birds and butterflies – I think either could work on its own, or they could work together with some sort of floral/tree theme going on. Wait a minute, did you just make me go down the road of another quilt I want to create but haven’t done so yet? If so, thanks! And good luck with creating your own new patterns. :)

  4. Oh my gosh, they are BEAUTIFUL. I can’t believe you’re new to this! Forest creatures are in right now, but I’d like to see birds, maybe.

  5. Wow, those are incredible!
I’d love to see one with a vehicle motive – maybe construction vehicles, or emergency vehicles, or cars and trucks, or a mixture? (Is it obvious I have a little boy who loves anything with wheels???).

  6. Casey your quilts are just beautiful — congratulations on getting the patterns published! I’m thinking along the same lines as several other ladies — dinosaurs! And I know several little boys that would just LOVE them!. Thanks for the giveaway.

  7. I’d like to see either deep sea motifs with corals, fish, medusas and octopus, or I’d like a dinosaur motif, or a tropical animal motif, or a cowboy motif (my sons would appreciate this most). Thanks for the chance!

  8. I would like to see woodland animals like foxes, hedgehogs, etc. Your two patterns are awesome and I hope I win them. I am happy to follow you on bloglovin. Merry Christmas. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com

  9. Well, I would DEFINITELY LOVE the bees!! My son is a beginning beekeeper! Wouldn’t that just be so fun to make him this quilt!!! thanks for the chance.

  10. Wow – your designs are fabulous! Since I am taking bee keeping classes I am really loving the apiary ! I think leaves would be a great motif also! Thank you !

  12. I really enjoy butterflies and bees, so anything with that (and you already have bees, so ;))
I also love your sharks, they’re awesome! Thanks for the chance to win!

  13. The two quilts and patterns are beautiful. It’s hard to believe you’re new at this. I’d love to see things fantasy—fairies, gnomes, elves, witches, wizards, etc. Thanks for the chance to win
